Junior Prom

Alexus was being driven to the prom in Jason's new 2009 Ford Mustang.
Alexus, my granddaughter is ready for the prom. I can't believe she is grown up this much already. Time surly flies by.

Marietta, Ohio

After leaving Karen & Tom's in Loveland, Ohio, we went to Marietta, Ohio to visit our friend David Paskawych. We stayed there for 2 days and had a great visit with Dave and Kevin, my sister Marjorie's son.

Roger, Dave and I went for a walk around the town, ate in a brewery and walked along the Ohio river. This city was completely underwater numerous times and the hotel across the street from this fountain has plaques where the water marks were in 1919, 1939 and 2006. The city is very quaint.

Visiting the Cupps

At Sleepy Hollow. I'm finally in a picture, imagine that.

We went to a restaurant called Sleepy Hollow. What is different about this restaurant is that it is all decorated for Christmas in May. The story I heard was that during either WWII or the Korean war the owners of the place had a son who was due home around Christmas time so they decorated the entire place for his homecoming, but it never took place, he never made it home. They left the decorations up and they have been left up ever since. What a heart breaking story.
Still in Sleep Hollow. I thought the lighted flags in the background would be nice for Memorial Day. The food was very good here. I had a grilled pork chop...yum!

Visiting the Cupps

Roger and I drove down to Tom and Karen Cupps for our Memorial Day vacation for a few days.
The trip was real good, the weather was perfact and we had a good time on the trip. It was nice to finally arrive to the Cupps house to find them sitting on the stoop waiting for us. It's always so nice to be with our friends and to spend time with them.

We went to a large farmers market, the largest I've ever been too. Everything you can think of was for sale there. We saw lots of interesting things.

We saw policemen on these funny scooters.

Later we went to a huge supermarket called Jungle Jim's. Very unique. There are life sized fake animals everywhere, inside and out. The place must be very popular because it was packed with people, just like the farmers market was.

Nick and Denise went on a camping trip so "grandma and grandpa Cupps" agreed to babysit their dogs. Charlie, Chandler and Blair who is Denise's sisters dog. What fun we had walking the 3 of them. Blair went potty on one man's lawn and he yelled out the window to have our dogs potty in our own yard. We even had plastic bags to pick it up, but he hollered anyhow.
He was a little grumpy.
We went to a mexican restrauant for lunch and it was the best. I had a carne asada which was to die for.

We played wii bowling every evening. This is so much fun, I can't wait till we can buy our own wii. We hollered, laughed and roared and cheered each other on. What a blast!

Karen bowling on the wii game. Man, she's good!

This is the Cupp's new house in Loveland, Ohio. It's truly beautiful and very comfortable. The yard is lush and lovely with all the trees and plants and instead of mulch, the plants are covered with white stones. There is a water fountain in front but Tom and Karen are looking to replace it with something more to their liking. I like the old one but it's not in great shape. We saw one at Sam's that would look perfact in it's place.

Sunday, March 8, 2009

Sunday morning we went to see the Music and the Spoken Word which is the Mormon Choir singing. It was great
Inside the plumb's house.
lots of staircases.
The outside looks like a mansion! The house is huge.
A HARLEY dealer near Lehi, Utah. It was built from scraps from the steel mill that was finally torn down in recent years. It's very unique.

Cody is trying to teach me to rope. I finally did it! Isn't he the cutest thing?
Karen met Cody, Ash and I out near Cody's dad's house to take me back to her mom and dad's house.
Brother and Sister Plumb's house is like a castle. So large and roomy, lots of windows and so beautiful. They are very kind and lovable people.

Twisted in rope

I learned how to rope a bale of hay with horns. I did get better at it than this though.
This is Lane Broadhead showing me how to trim the hoofs on his horse. Cody's dad is a real cowboy. He rides, ropes cattle and puts shoes on horses. Does it get any better than that? They pack a few horses and head for the mountains on horseback to go hunting, fishing and camping, etc. It's like right out of a cowboy movie. The pictures they have of their trips are beautiful. I would give my eye teeth to go on a trip like that with them. What a wonderful life they have, and a blessed one for sure.
I could do this all day long. I've had a really good time with Cody and Ash. They are made for each other and are really cute together. I love em'.
I LOVE RIDING HORES ! Cody's mom Holly wasn't home at this time, she was attending gardening class. Holly is a doll and I fell in love with her the second I saw her. The 2 of us could get into some real trouble if I was there more often. Lucy and Ethel II. I had such a wonderful time with the Broadhead family. I wish I could have stayed longer and I can't wait until I can go back in a few years with the Smith's.
Karen drove me out to meet Cody so I could go horseback riding. There is a standing joke now between all of us that Karne told Cody one night on his mission that Mountain Dew was a good contraceptive, so he drinks it all the time....umh, no kids yet. Cody was so cute tellling me the story, his face got red and he giggled. It was really funny coming from him.

Going to dinner with Cody & Ash

Cody and Ashley Broadhead leaving me off at the motel after dinner. Tomorrow he is picking me up and taking me horseback riding in Lehi, Utah.
This is part of the Salt Lake valley from near the new Draper Temple looking down from the top of a mountain, this is only a small part of the valley.
Cody took me to Draper, Utah to see the new Temple that is just now having it's grand tour.
Cody and Ashley picked me up to take me to dinner where we were met by his parents Holly and Lane Broadhead. Dinner was good and the conversation never slowed down. They were all really good people and I'm so glad I had the chance to meet them and be with Cody and his cute little wife.

Salt Lake Temple

Sister Beaumont and I did and endownment session today, (Fri) at 1pm. I've never seen anything as beautiful as the inside of this temple. The session was wonderful but the Celesterial room was very emotional. I am going to Landon and Hayley's sealing in the temple tomorrow morning, then I will be off with Sister Cupps.

Saying Goodbye

Dinner with Landon and Hayley. It was like we were never apart. They both looked so good and we had such a good time together. We had Italian then went to see the Harley dealer in Salt Lake. He drives like a maniac. I love them so much!
I had a chance to see Rusty McDermitt, we went to a little dinner and had a drink. We visited and had a wonderful time. I love him, he's so cute and sweet. It is so good to see my old missionaries and see what they are doing now.

Today was my last day at the home of Sue and Barry Kirk where I was staying with Sister Beaumont.

Lunch

The Mountains show between the buildings. I'm not used to this.
This was Wed. when we stopped for a Mexican lunch. It was good too,
The Salt Lake Temple is beautiful. Lo've was pointing out some of the symbolism on the outside. Tomorrow I get to go inside to do an endownment session with Landon and his wife.

Wow, I had lunch is the basement of the Church Office Building. Prime Rib, baked potato, mixed veggies. What a wonderful meal. I told Lo've that the lunch was worth coming to Salt Lake.
She wanted me to take a picture of my plate but I would not do it, so I'll share some of the other pics. I took. This was on our way to lunch.

Geese

Tuesday night traveling toward Laramie, Wyoming we saw thousands of geese flying overhead and quacking like crazy. I've never seen so many geese! I couldn't get a picture of them because it was getting too dark but they were crazy, they had no formation at all.

Mountains Everywhere

I've never seen so many and such large mountains in my life. I was scared riding the twisted down hill road into Salt Lake, but I SURVIVED ! We got into Salt Lake at 4:25 and we went right to the History Library where I am now doing my blog. The weather held out for us our entire trip and in most places along the way, we were the only car on the road.
Lo've and I have had a wonderful time together as she is great company.
I miss my family and friends but I look forward to my vacation and being with Sister Cupps, calling and meeting with Landon Fitzgerld, Cody Broadhead and hopefully Aaron Anderson.
For all of you who may be reading this, I miss you and I'll see you soon. Take care of Roger for me.!

Utah or Bust!

Lo've and I left Norwich at 11:15 am on Monday, March 2nd, 2009 headed for Utah! It was so cold in Norwich we were looking forward to going West.
We arrived in Larkin, Ill at 12:18 am and stayed at the Motel 6. They left the light on for us, but the next time, we'll by-pass Motel 6 for reasons Lo've will not let me write.
We gained an hour so it was 11:18 by Ill. time when we checked into the motel.
We got back on the road Tuesday morning at 8:32 am, driving 75 mph which put us in Iowa at 10:36 pm.
We drove until we hit Laramie, Wyoming at 1am. We checked into Motel 8 which was wonderful.

Ready for my Utah trip

This is Thursday evening and I am packing and getting my affairs in order before I leave early Monday for Utah with Sister Beaumont. Leaving Roger alone for a week is going to be an experience, so I'm making sure the bills are paid, trash is out and dinners are planned. Tomeka is taking custody of Roger for the week for his evening meals. It will be like having another kid in the house for Tomeka, but I do appreciate the fact that she is willing to feed her father in my absence.

My nerves are causing me some mild mental problems, but it's only because I've never been on a vacation without Roger. What if I won't know how to behave? What if, what if, what if? Will that haunting question ever stop ringing through my head?

I'm very anxious to get started but yet not. I can't stand the thought of being cooped up inside a car for 2 or 3 days with Lo've, (who is so good and righteous ) and I am just me, what a combination. What will we find to talk about for 3 days? What if I say something upsetting to her? Oh, what if?

Ok, I'll contine this as our trip starts and as we go along. It'll be easier now that Sister Cupps told me I can bring my laptop and get it home on the plane. Well, what do I know about travel? NOTHING! I know I'll need air sickness pills before getting on an airplane, and a lot of prayers, and more insurance I'm sure. Bye for now.

All Good Things Must Come To An End

We are all ready to leave the really great motel we stayed at. We had a ball there, all sitting in the lobby and talking until late. Everyone was so happy to see each other we all tried to talk over each other, it was funny. This is quite a crew I'll tell you!
What a bunch!

Mike & Pam Smith after getting their endowments and having their marriage sealed in the Temple. What a wonderful experience for them and everyone who attended.

After we left the Temple we all went to the bookstore then to a pizzeria for lunch.
What a happy bunch of people. We could not be more happy for the Smith's than we are today.
The only thing missing from lunch are the Cupp's. They needed to head for home earlier than expected.
I'm just taking it all in, laid back and happy!
